What is a Mayan Herbal Bath?

"Limpieza", or Cleansing, is a deeply healing and sacred ritual, enfolding plant work with prayer. This ancient and noble lineage of elemental purification has been kept alive throughout the world’s spiritual and ancestral traditions.

This energetically cleansing Herbal Bathing gives us the opportunity to connect with the energies and spirits of the land, dispelling dis-ease, revealing and refreshing our true selves.

You will be guided through a traditional herbal bathing ritual preserved and taught by the Mayan Curanderas (healers) of Belize, which Madeleina has been honored with the distinct right to pass on. Adrienne will be assisting and facilitating as apprentice, which she has been for nearly 5 years now. We will learn how to approach the plants, while integrating emerging remembrances of our own ancestral lineages. Each person will create their own healing bath, using locally wild-harvested, cultivated, and traditional Mayan bathing herbs.

As we offer our altar to the Water Spirits, we will sing in honor of the Spirits of Moisture. This gorgeous ritual is rooted in the garden of the past, sprouting in the present, and calling forth a viable, alive future. Come create a blossoming of your healing intentions, in self-love and beauty, emanating them into the world as a gift of praise for the Holies in Nature, affirming our endless allegiance with them.

Time: 12 noon -4pm

Location: A stunning, quiet, spacious, lush garden, at a private residence, backing onto 600 acres of wilderness preserve. Plenty of Covid spacing and safety protocols will be honored. approx 38 min from SF.

Cost: 80$. Spaces are very limited. Payment in full is required before holding your spot.

What to bring-

Comfy blanket to sit on, water bottle, any desired snacks, some sort of bathing suit, or the like, that can get wet for a moment, a towel, notebook and pen, sun hat/sunblock and a spontaneous spirit to embrace a lovely day!

Optional and wonderful to have-

Any fragrant flowers or herbs of your choosing, or special to you (note- the key ones will ALL be provided, so no need to bring any at all). Please just make sure if you bring any that they are organic/have not been sprayed by pesticides. A white outfit, wrap or clothing item to wear after pouring bath over your body. Traditionally white garments are worn after this practice.

Of note: NO photography or phones during the 3 hrs are to be used in the immediate space, in respect for others and the ceremony. If you need to make a call or text, by all means stepping out is fine, but again, we encourage you to devote 3 hours to yourself, tech-free. Select pictures where/when they are permitted will be taken discretly for those who would like a moment of their day.
